NatureBreak is a video blog/social network I started to bring together people who love nature. The idea is to harness the power of social media to build an online community of nature-lovers. On the site, members can use video, photos, and messaging to share stories about their experiences in the outdoors. Since most of us spend so much time behind a computer these days, I want this site to offer people a refreshing “break” from normal computer work to get in touch with what’s going on in the natural world.
I’ll regularly be posting new NatureBreak videos to the site, featuring my latest wildlife adventures. There’s some exciting episodes in store: everything from close-up views of pregnant rattlesnakes to even closer-up views of a botfly larva in my head! In my videos, I don’t use any macho antics to try to get animals to look fierce and dangerous. So you probably won’t see any snakes striking or alligator wrastling (is that even a real word?). I try to interfere as little as possible in the lives of the animals I film. Except for the poor botfly...but hey, it was either him or me. I promise you’ll still see really cool video of animals, though! Join the community to be sure you don’t miss any.
NatureBreak is currently accepting sponsorships and advertising. We’re also fiscally sponsored by the Environmental Media Fund, so we’re eligible for grants to non-profits and can accept tax-deductible donations. If you want to reach a targeted and engaged audience by sponsoring one or several NatureBreak videos or advertising on the website, email me.
